Go’n Buy Nstinct

Go’n Buy Nstinct

Last week I was strolling down the sidewalk in downtown San Francisco scoping out design firms in the area and getting a lay of the land. I was approached by a guy with a backpack, an iPod, some headphones and a handful of roughly packaged CD’s who asked me if I liked to party. “Yes”, I thought to myself, “I like to party”, which came out as “What’s up, man?” as if I already knew him. He told me that Nstinct’s new album, Already There, was what’s up, and offered me the headphones. I didn’t know what to expect from a man selling shabby looking burned CD’s on the sidewalk, but the music was actually pretty sick.

Turns out the man was Nstinct himself, an Oakland rapper offering a smooth, slightly hyphy style, his beats influenced by electronica. The lyrics were average, but the overall flow and sound was something I could definitely party to. Here’s to the to the artists out there pushing their art in public, meeting their fans on the street, standing behind their work and making their name. Its tough work at first, but thats how it should be done. I bought “Already There” with the remaining $5 in my wallet, said Good Luck, and we parted ways. Should you be walking around the Bay, remember: Go Buy Nstinct.
