Masters of the One-Take

Masters of the One-Take

The one-take music video is as authentic as they come. The only unseen elements are the rehearsals preceding the all-or-nothing plunge into the final take, and camera crew. Everything else is displayed before the viewer, from the the placement lines chalked onto the pavement to the tiniest of mistakes deemed insignificant to warrant a further attempt. This candid approach to music filmmaking has got me going nuts, and one band does it particularly well. Their choreography is impeccable their often unexpected use of extras just makes me smile.

If you’re not one of the 50 million people to have watched one or more of their videos, get on it. I thought I might consolidate a few of their masterpieces for anyone who stumbles upon this post and wants to either lose their OK Go one-take virginity and be amazed, or re-watch for the 97th time and still be amazed, as I am. The LA group’s latest work is of their single End Love, from Of the Blue Colour of the Sky. Enjoy:
